CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Carrington used a four-run third inning to beat Park River 4-1 here Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota Class B American Legion baseball tournament.

Carrington's big inning came with only one hit, an RBI single by Jayden Rosenau. But the two-time defending state champion was opportunistic, taking advantage of two hit batters, two walks and run-scoring ground outs by Brett Lyman and Alex Stusynski.

Park River got on the scoreboard first. Will Zimmerman drew a one-out walk in the third inning and advanced to third base with a pair of stolen bases. Beneda drove Zimmerman home when he grounded a hard single up the middle.

Carrington improved to 25-5 while Park River dropped to 29-13.
