Michael Kjelland, a professor at Mayville State University, and Jim Walla, a retired North Dakota State University research scientist, secured the patent on the prolific berry-producing tree in 2018. It’s been a yearslong project for the pair that is now bearing fruit.
Julia Kohls, a junior from Mayville, North Dakota, will serve as the state DECA president for the 2022-23 academic year, and Jamison Zaun, a junior from Wahpeton, North Dakota, has been re-elected to the position of state vice president.
The program is being offered for teachers who are already licensed, but wish to pursue graduate-level instruction as they attain a higher educational preparation level. The program also has an option for people who want to prepare teaching programs within an organization. Courses for a portion of the program are set to begin in early January.
The North Dakota University System compliance office received four direct reports of alleged policy violations by Van Horn, according to a summary report. Three reports alleged inappropriate behavior toward female employees, and further alleged that other female employees are uncomfortable in his presence, the document provided to the Herald said.
