FARGO, N.D. – Tim Flakoll, provost for Tri-College University and director of operations for NDSU Downtown, has been awarded the national Phi Kappa Phi Dr. Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award.
The award honors an individual who has provided sustained, non-compensated volunteer service to others beyond the realm of academia. It is presented to one person nationally every two years.
Flakoll was nominated by the North Dakota State University's Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.
According to information provided NDSU, Phi Kappa Phi cited it was particularly impressed with Flakoll’s statewide public service and youth mentoring.
The award includes a lifetime membership in the organization and a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit cause of the recipient’s choice, which, NDSU said, Flakoll plans to use for college student-related causes.
