ACLU has new legal intern for North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming chapter

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. • Kali Pearson has joined the ACLU of North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming as a summer intern for the three-state chapter’s legal department.

As a legal intern, Pearson will develop substantive skills and professional experience through trainings and on-the-job learning. She’ll work alongside ACLU lawyers on a variety of issues and be responsible for conducting legal and policy research, drafting memoranda, affidavits and briefs, and researching and drafting materials for public education.

Pearson is a law student at the University of South Dakota School of Law. At USD, Pearson has been involved in the trial team and has competed in numerous regional and national competitions. She’s also active in the Black Law Students Association and the American Constitution Society.

Pearson earned her undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Apex Engineering Group welcomes three new team members

FARGO, N.D. • Apex Engineering Group recently hired John Parisien as a survey technician, Nute Bishop as environmental planner, and Ryan Roth as a transportation engineer.

Parisien comes to Apex Engineering Group with seven years of survey experience. He joins the company as a survey technician in the Fargo office. In this role, he works with design and construction surveys in addition to land boundaries.

Nute Bishop

Bishop joins Apex with 13 years of experience in environmental planning. He brings expertise in both environmental planning and permitting for transportation projects as well as wetland, botany, and biological surveys for state and county road projects, oil and gas pads/pipelines, water pipelines, and telecommunications projects.

Bishop holds certifications in USACE wetland delineation, asbestos inspection, and SWPPP administrator and inspector in North Dakota and Montana.

Roth is a recent graduate of NDSU where he earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering. He joins Apex Engineering Group in Fargo as a graduate engineer. In his role, he works in the transportation group with road design and construction. His work experience includes internships at the Cass County Highway Department and City of West Fargo Engineering Department.

Essentia Health welcomes walk-in care specialist

FARGO, N.D. • Essentia Health Walk-in Care at 52nd Avenue in Fargo recently welcomed Nikki Holton, an advanced practice registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner specializing in walk-in care.

She said she loves the vast array of ages that her area of practice brings, and it gives her joy to be able to serve those in need, whether they have acute or chronic conditions.

Holton received her education from the Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downer Grove, Illinois.

Marine Innovations employees receives master elevator constructor license

FRAZEE, Minn. • Marine Innovations’s Omar Magana, elevator inspector, has been awarded his Minnesota master elevator constructor license.

Magana started his career as an elevator mechanic in his home state of California. He has served in many positions, including mechanic, foreman, project manager, construction supervisor for companies including Otis Elevator, Coast Elevator and Schindler.

Prior to joining Marine Innovations, Magana served as elevator inspector for the city of Minneapolis for 11 years, five of those as lead inspector. He has served in the elevator industry for 37 years.

As a master elevator constructor, Magana will be involved throughout the installation process of Marine Innovations inclined elevators across Minnesota. He will also oversee system maintenance inspections.

In his free time, Magana enjoys boating, hunting, fishing, traveling and volunteering. He and his wife, Silvi, make their home in Coon Rapids and Frazee, Minnesota.

New director named for SD CEO East Women’s Business Center

SPEARFISH, S.D. • South Dakota CEO East Women’s Business Center (SD CEO East) has named Sadie Swier as the new director.

Swier will continue the established momentum and lead the next chapter of the organization alongside SD CEO West to provide training, counseling, and technical assistance to aspiring women business owners and entrepreneurs across the state.

In her role as community outreach manager at Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc., Swier served more than 250 business members, generated economic impact, developed strategic planning, built community, oversaw marketing, and conducted event planning.

Swier will develop programs, provide free business advising, and oversee day-to-day operations of the center.

Super Studio hires lead producer

FARGO, N.D. • Super Studio, the full-service media production arm of RR46, has hired Aimee Mitchell as its lead producer.

Mitchell brings 15 years of professional experience to Super Studio’s productions, and will be responsible for working with clients to deliver top-notch commercial video, audio, animation and photography. Mitchell enjoys finding solutions to any challenge and partnering with clients to create successful brand content.

Mitchell earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Prior to joining Super Studio, she worked as a video producer for BNG.

Trinity Health Foundation member receives promotion

MINOT, N.D. • Trinity Health Foundation recently promoted Cody McManigal from donor relations coordinator to Foundation coordinator.

McManigal has been a Trinity Health Foundation team member for more than eight years, serving in several different roles with the organization.

As the Foundation coordinator, he will oversee the donor database, grant writing, special events including the men’s and women’s golf tournaments, nursing scholarship program, special projects, and a number of other Foundation programs.
