FARGO, N.D. • Essentia Health says it has planned free advance care planning (ACP) classes over the next three months.
ACP is a process that helps individuals think and talk about their choices for health care in the future. It’s important for every adult to have an advance directive, also known as a living will or health care directive, according to Essentia when announcing the upcoming classes.
The classes, which will be held virtually, will be on the following days and times:
• 11 a.m. to noon Monday, June 6
• Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13

• 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16
Everyone is invited to join in the conversation to discover the value of ACP, reflect on values, choose a health care agent, explore goals for treatment and take steps toward completing a health care directive.
Essentia said by having these conversations proactively, individuals can ensure their preferences are understood if they become unable to make medical decisions due to an accident, injury or sudden illness.
