Essentia Health hires family medicine physician at Detroit Lakes clinic

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. • Dr. Elizabeth Westhoff, a family medicine physician and hospitalist, is welcoming new patients at the Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes Clinic.

Dr. Westhoff received her medical degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and completed her residency in family medicine at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, Wis. She said she pursued family medicine because she enjoys getting to know patients and their families.

Essentia Health welcomes advanced practice registered nurse at Fargo clinic

FARGO, N.D. • Tessa Hand, an advanced practice registered nurse and certified nurse midwife specializing in obstetrics, is excited to welcome new patients at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Previously Hand, who grew up in Dickinson, N.D., had been a nurse with Essentia in labor and delivery for many years. She said it felt like a natural fit to transition into the role of certified nurse midwife and continue to serve many of the families she was able to care for as a nurse.

Hand earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree from North Dakota State and a master of science in nursing degree (nurse midwifery) from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn. She is certified as a nurse midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
