Appel joins FIBT with nearly 20 years’ experience in financial services. Recently recognized by the South Dakota Bankers Association as an Emerging Leader, he will lead FIBT’s growing banking team.

Having spent the last 15 years serving the Sioux Falls business community, Appel understands the evolving banking needs of owners and operators. He feels FIBT’s nimble approach to lending will greatly benefit the community.

Appel currently serves on the Executive Leadership team for the Sioux Falls Family YMCA, and as Vice Chair and Treasurer of Sioux Falls Cares. He earned his degree in Business Administration and Public Accounting from the University of Sioux Falls.

Essentia Health welcomes certified physician assistant

FARGO, N.D. • Certified physician assistant Brittany Hjermstad, who specializes in gastroenterology, is excited to welcome new patients at Essentia Health in Fargo.

She said she enjoys the ability to focus her studies and energies on one system, to become an expert in the field. Many of the conditions that affect the GI system have treatments available that can greatly improve patients’ quality of life.

Hjermstad was educated at Midwestern University in Glendale, Ariz., and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
