FARGO, N.D. • Horse owners can learn how to better care for their horses this winter through a webinair series scheduled to begin later this month.
Owners will learn about grain, supplements, feeding hay and winter facilities management issues through the webinar, hosted by North Dakota State University Extension.
The event is to begin at noon on three Wednesdays, two in December and one in January: Dec. 16, 30 and Jan. 13. Topics, according to NDSU Extension, will include:
- Feeding hay during the winter months
- Feeding grain and supplements during the winter months
- Sampling hay and grain for nutrient analysis
- Winter facilities management
- Winter manure management
The presenters will be NDSU research and Extension specialists and agents, and Shane Kjellberg from K2S Engineering Inc.
“This will be a great opportunity to learn and ask questions about winter feeding and facilities management strategies as it pertains to horses,” said Mary Keena, livestock environmental management specialist at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center.
“Management of your resources can help you save money while making sure your horse is getting the best nutrition and care at appropriate times.”
