Inclement weather proceeded throughout much of the day, with an expected 6 to 10 inches of snowfall from the storm being expected by the time the storm started tapering off in Kandiyohi County on Friday evening.

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Monday visited the Barn Theatre to showcase the Save Our Stages Act, which provided funding for arts and entertainment venues across the state. The Barn Theatre, New London Little Theatre and the Spicer Cinema all received funding.
As soon as people 12 and older were eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations, Kaden Toutges got his shots. His brother and parents had done the same before him. He joined more than half of the eligible people in Kandiyohi County who have been vaccinated.
State parks are enjoying a repeat of last year's surge in numbers. Activities, programming and visitors are back and on the upswing at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center as well. The heat wave has made a dip in the water the No. 1 attraction at parks in the region.
It's a tradition for many anglers to head north for the fishing opener, but last year's COVID-19 pandemic led many to stay close to home. There's good reason to stick with that strategy this year as well, as lakes in southern Minnesota offers lots of good fishing.

Norma Monson doesn't have many photographs of her mother. But one of her favorites was taken in 1954 and shows her mom reading the February issue of a magazine called Woman's Home Companion. A timely set of coincidences recently brought a copy of that magazine into Monson's home — and heart.
A thunderstorm system rolled across west-central Minnesota Friday night resulting in several tornadoes east of Spicer and others across the region.
SPICER, Minn. — An 83-year-old man was reported missing Tuesday afternoon, June 16, after last being seen riding his bicycle near Spicer, was found alive Wednesday.
