Property owners in Polk County who sustained flood damage to their private property from April 22 to present are being asked to complete a damage assessment survey by no later than Friday, July 15
The inventory of flocks in Minnesota diagnosed with H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza now stands at 62 sites, with a total of 2,718,082 birds affected, according to the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. Two additional infection sites were announced Friday, April 29.
The optics of the city annexing this land, zoning it for industrial use and the land having been purchased by the company seems to deliver the message that the approval of a conditional use permit is all but a done deal.

Overall, North Dakota saw an increase of 15.8%, with the population rising from 672,591 in 2010 to 779,094 in 2020. It’s a boost of 106,503 residents. In Minnesota, census numbers show the population rose from 5,303,925 in 2010 to 5,706,494 in 2020, or about 402,000 residents. It’s an increase of about 7.6%.

As of Thursday, July 22, about half of Polk County is experiencing severe drought and the rest of the county is experiencing extreme drought. Most of Red Lake County is experiencing extreme drought.
The 120th annual Polk County Fair continues through Sunday, July 11. Events include 4-H livestock shows, grandstand entertainment and the Armstrong Shows on the midway.
