In a last minute letter to the House of Representatives, Ravnsborg attempted to tell lawmakers justice had been served, and that he need not be impeached. That letter is a one reason Rep. Lance Koth, R-Mitchell, changed his mind and voted to impeach.
After he was impeached Tuesday, April 12, Jason Ravnsborg issued a statement believing he’ll be “vindicated” in a Senate trial set to begin June 21.
As the process of impeachment and potential removal from office continues, the adopted articles of impeachment will be served upon Ravnsborg, which will trigger a 20-day waiting period before the Senate can begin a trial.
“A cover-up is what this is. It’s as bad as the crime," said Rep. Tim Goodwin, R-Rapid City, referring to a House committee that recommended against impeaching Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg. State officials will answer lawmaker questions about the Ravnsborg investigation on Wednesday, just six days before the full House consider impeachment.

Before casting his vote in favor of banning home-grow, Rep. Spencer Gosch said he doesn’t disagree with the will of the people, but noted voters elect lawmakers to fix laws before implementing them.
Original policy required a minimum of three cannabis plants to be grown, but lawmakers wanted to change it to a maximum of three.
