Alex John Schlangen pleaded guilty in Yellow Medicine County District Court to illegal discharge of a firearm and a charge of domestic assault was dismissed for an incident in the city of Granite Falls. Schlangen was not on duty as a police officer at the time, but a felony conviction brings the automatic revocation of his peace officer license in the state of Minnesota.
Dr. Mark Eakes of Granite Falls now faces a total of seven felony charges of criminal sexual conduct for related to pelvic, rectal or breast exams on four patients from 2019 to 2021.
The pilot of a plane that crashed Friday morning near the Granite Falls Airport was treated at the scene and then airlifted to North Memorial in Robbinsdale, according to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office says a flammable liquid was poured onto a bonfire early Sunday morning in rural Granite Falls and five young men were injured. Three of them were airlifted, one directly from the scene.
