The right words were said and, it appears, appropriate actions were taken this week when it was announced that UND has found, at some place on campus, the remains of dozens of Indigenous ancestors and sacred objects.
Mongeon-Stewart will provide leadership for the University’s financial and operational divisions, including human resources, public safety, facilities, affirmative action/equal opportunity employment, records management and the Chester Fritz Auditorium.
I find it disheartening that UND President Andrew Armacost was bullied into scrapping the gender inclusion policy.
Eventually, the university decided to scrap the policy. Shortly after the decision, the Herald – through an open-records request – viewed dozens of emails sent to UND from parents, alumni, casual observers and state lawmakers.

The UND president said legislative funding is always a factor facing higher education leaders when making campus decisions.
Making policy in a knee-jerk response to trending media topics is as unwise as making it based on anecdotes.
If UND means to implement a fair policy that serves the interests of everyone on campus, and not just serve knee-jerk desires to be in line with the latest political trends, they need to do better than what they've done so far.
