The president declared the week of May 1-7 as National Small Business Week to recognize the critical contributions our small business owners make in our communities. This year, we celebrate ‘the resiliency and tenacity of America’s entrepreneurs’ who may have struggled through the pandemic and are now helping in the economic comeback.
In North Dakota, 98.8% of businesses are small according to SBA guidelines and employ over 50% of the State’s workforce. I want to thank area small businesses for their devotion to their businesses, their trades, their employees, and their communities. It is their entrepreneurial spirit that keeps the economy going in their communities, throughout North Dakota and across the nation.
Thank you also to the local communities for supporting their local small businesses now and during the pandemic. By shopping local, we are helping the very business owners that support our communities.
Finally, a special thank you to Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski for helping SBA highlight the important role these businesses play in their communities by designating May 1-7 as Small Business Week in the city of Grand Forks.
