Letter: Is democracy in peril? No question about it

For four long years the Democratic party, the media and the entrenched bureaucracies did everything legal and extra legal to nullify the results of the 2016 election.

Letter to the editor FSA

Why will former President Donald Trump run in 2024?

Elementary: Revenge.

For four long years the Democratic party, the media and the entrenched bureaucracies did everything legal and extra legal to nullify the results of the 2016 election.

Lies, falsehoods and slander that knew no bounds. Russian collusion indeed. Robert Mueller and his band of “biased” could not make a case. Threats to withhold support for Ukraine, just innuendo.

Never has a sitting president been so maligned. Absolutely disgusting.

Democracy in peril? No question. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It’s human nature. No representative democracy will ever forever endure.

The day after the 2020 election results were recognized, I said, “I hope Trump doesn’t embarrass us.” Well, he did. The man is mortal, simply a human being. That someone could be treated so unjustly is a sad commentary. Actually, it’s a shameful one.

Look at what we have now. Does Joe Biden have a death wish for the country? Virtually every action he employs undermines the integrity of the office of the presidency. Executive order after order. He is supposedly the executive, not a benevolent despot.

I’m 76 years old and never have been so afraid. I don’t have that much future. What I do have is the great fear that my skepticism will become cynicism.

As Mark Twain said, “There are times when one would like to hang the whole human race and be done with the farce.”
