Letter: Actions speak much louder than words

I ask what policies and legislation they will enact to support women, families and children?

Letter to the editor FSA
We are part of The Trust Project.

Our three federal representatives and most of our state representatives have applauded the overturning of Roe v Wade. They have declared themselves to be pro-life.

Even as they applaud the dismantling of a right which American women have held for over 50 years, and even as they await the implementation of the almost total ban on abortions in North Dakota, I ask what policies and legislation they will enact to support women, families and children?

Universal health care?

Mandated paid maternity and paternity leave?

Available and affordable child care?

Enhanced funding for therapeutic care and special education to meet the needs of some children who will now be carried to term?

Enhanced funding for and better administration of adoption services and the foster care system where children who cannot be cared for by their birth parents might end up?

Actions speak louder than words. So far, our federal and republican state representatives have shown themselves to be anti-abortion and pro-fetus. Being pro-life entails much more!
