Both indicated that it was in the last year when North Dakota’s tribes secured the right to use their tribal ID to vote. However, that is not accurate
Since 2005, 15 years ago, state law has listed tribal issued identification as an acceptable form of identification for Native Americans to use for voting purposes. As with other forms of acceptable identification, it must provide the voter’s name, birthdate and a North Dakota residential address.
