EDITOR’S NOTE: The Herald recently reached out to clergy members across the community, requesting they submit letters of prayer or words of encouragement for Herald readers.

Who do we trust? We trust the Lord.

He is on His throne and no matter what is going on around us, we put our trust in Him. He is faithful and true. He is not surprised by any of this and we trust Him. Ask your kids, “Who do we trust?” Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” No matter what happens in the days ahead, Jesus remains the same. No matter if we can’t see what the next day may bring or how our circumstances may change from press conference to press conference, Jesus remains the same.

Trust is not barely resting on the edge of the seat hoping it might hold us. Trust is fully and completely allowing ourselves to sit with our full weight in the chair and knowing that the chair will hold us, it’s knowing that we fully trust that the God of the universe has got us.

Trust that God Is our refuge and He Is our strength, and He Is a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. So the thing is, we can trust that He Is with us at all times. We can Trust that His Word is true even if we don’t understand the why to the what. Proverbs 3:5-6.

So, today I pray that God you will continue to show yourself faithful to us. That even when we can’t see or feel that you’re working that we will trust and lean not to our ways of understanding, but we will sit fully in your presence trusting that you got us. That you are our Way Maker, our Promise Keeper, our Light in the darkness. Amen.
