The majority of members of the North Dakota Legislature do not believe women are equal to men, as indicated by their recent vote to rescind ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.
No matter what smokescreens they try to create, the bottom-line message is the same. They believe women should not be entitled to the same protections under the law as men. This means women don’t deserve equal opportunity, equal pay or an equal voice.
As personally painful and reprehensible as I find their actions, I am even more concerned about the message this sends to future generations. Although they tried to hide how they voted by pushing this through with a voice vote, we can still let them know what we think of their actions and hold them accountable at the ballot box.
