As the coronavirus surges in Grand Forks, I call on Mayor Brandon Bochenski and the City Council to implement a mask mandate and other mitigation policies for our city. Masks work to reduce infection. Limiting indoor gatherings also limits infection.
I serve Family of God Church, a small congregation of mostly older members. We have committed to meeting virtually until cases in the Grand Cities fall for four consecutive weeks, as recommended by public health guidelines. At this rate, it will be next summer before we can gather in person.
If the citizens of our community would commit to some inconvenience now, we would shorten the time when the virus is a high danger to us all. Short-term inconvenience can have long-term benefits for everyone.
Please take the lead and help us all be safe and healthy.
