I want to express the honor it is to be appointed as the 13th president of the University of North Dakota. I type this message as I fly home (on Dec. 3) to join Kathy back in Colorado Springs. The excitement of Tuesday’s events has not diminished one bit.
In our 21 years in Colorado Springs, we have made community involvement a priority. Whether supporting schools, nonprofits or city services, we know the importance of providing enduring support to the local community.
As we prepare to make Grand Forks our home, please know that we will work hard to continue the connection between the university and your wonderful cities. Kathy and I will be a visible presence among the citizens of Grand Forks-East Grand Forks and your community leaders. We will share in the joy of your successes and in the hard work needed to overcome challenges.
As they see us out and about, I ask Grand Forks residents to please take the time to say hello and introduce themselves – this is an important step in building a strong sense of community.
