On behalf of the Grand Forks and Grand Forks Air Force Base Public School Districts, I want to extend my appreciation to our communities for supporting public education at the local level. There is no greater honor than to serve our communities in my present role as superintendent of schools, a position that has allowed me to interact with all of our school campuses and with our forward-thinking governing entities. I am proud to be a part of “Team Grand Forks” that continually reflects upon our history, has an engaging dialogue about our present, and who positions us for the future.
Our school system has taken on two significant initiatives this year in 1) rewriting our Strategic Plan, which aligns with contemporary times and for the next generation; and 2) developing short-, medium- and long-range plans for our facilities.
For the latter, we held five community meetings in September designed to engage our community on forthcoming facility decisions that the Grand Forks School Board will make. To that end, we want to continue public engagement through ThoughtExchange, an online portal that allows you to watch presentations on school demographics, our budget, deferred maintenance, and facility challenges we have most recently experienced. Following the presentations, there are three questions where your input is requested. Moreover, you will be able to see what others have shared and can give those thoughts a one to five star “ranking.” Your input is critically important to the School Board and district leadership in future planning and decision-making.
The Grand Forks and Grand Forks Air Force Base School Districts have a long history of enjoying, appreciating, and valuing public support; it is one of many attributes that brought my family here 25 years ago. I would be most grateful for your participation in our facilities community engagement process as the online portal will remain open for several more weeks.
