To the editor,
It's too bad the political party one favors needs to be part of a decision about who should be a university president. It sounds like the Colorado governor isn't as open-minded as one should expect.
I don't care who is the head of either university but feel compelled to speak in UND President Mark Kennedy's defense.
Way back when, he ran for the U.S. Senate against the current full-time campaigner for U.S. president, Amy Klobuchar. She said we are going to end the war in the Middle East. Kennedy said "I am sorry folks, you aren't going to want to hear this, but we will likely be there for longer than we would like."
Who was right? Kennedy.
Klobuchar was, and is, good at telling people what they want to hear. Kennedy seemed to be better at telling people what they need to hear: the truth.
