Letter: Stop, think about school closing impact

To the editor,

I would like everyone in the community to stop and think about the impact closing north-end schools could have on the city as a whole.

What impact will the school closings have on property values? What impact will it have on the surrounding businesses? What about the increase in traffic and emissions? What about the increased cost of busing students? Are we just going to ignore these questions?

There needs to be more options than the ones provided to the school board thus far. The impact of this decision is too large to only consider the opinions of one local consultant (who potentially could benefit financially from all options presented).

I request the school board seek additional options from a company or organization external to the city before decisions are made — ones which could have long-lasting and far-reaching implications for the entire community of Grand Forks.
