The UND Fighting Hawks have a unique place in the 2016 NCAA hockey championship matches in Tampa, Fla.

The Hawks are the only non-private institution in the tourney. Also, they are the only team located in a non-urban setting.

The four teams do have a couple of similarities:

▇ Enrollment. Boston College-14,000; Quinnipiac-9,000; University of Denver-11,800; and UND-15,000. So, the schools are similar in size, and all offer graduate programs.

▇ For all four schools, hockey is the institution's "signature sport," although BC's football program may rival hockey in status. Remember Doug Flutie? Overall, however, hockey has been more successful at BC.

Let's hope that Coach Brad Berry can bring home the championship in his first year as head coach. Go Fighting Hawks!
