Wind power makes North Dakota stronger, despite the claims in North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer's Viewpoint (" Trump 'gets it' on North Dakota's energy industry ," Page A4, May 26).
My family has been farming in North Dakota since 1882. Because of the wind turbines I will have on my property, I know that we can continue that tradition, and my sons can successfully take over the business. That means the world to me.
North Dakota should be proud of its wind power story. We reliably generate 17 percent of our state's electricity from thin air, helping to affordably keep the lights on.
Farmers and ranchers receive up to $10 million every year in lease payments for hosting turbines, a stable source of income we depend on. For many of us, it's been a lifesaver.
And it creates good jobs. Three thousand North Dakotans work in wind, and there are four factories in our state that build wind-related parts.

We should harvest all of our resources. People who don't understand that wind power helps us build stronger communities don't understand North Dakota. The truth is we should welcome industries that bring resources into our communities and jobs to our state.
