On Tuesday, Grand Forks residents will make an important decision: we will choose the leader of our city for the next four years. I'd like to tell Herald readers about the man I am voting for.
A few years ago, I met Terry Bjerke through my involvement in the Grand Forks GOP. Immediately, Bjerke reminded me of my father. Like my father, Bjerke is an unapologetic conservative who believes in limited government and personal responsibility. He also tells it like it is, not sugarcoating anything.
Having spent the previous six years at a university, I found this very refreshing.
Later, I became the chair of this organization and had the chance to work with Bjerke on a number of projects. During this time, I have found him to be a kind, honest and principled leader. He takes the role of leadership at any level as a great responsibility. He has the true heart of a public servant, one who never forgets where the money comes from nor the people who
entrust him with this responsibility.

We need more people like Bjerke in government. I ask readers to join me in voting him for mayor.
