LETTER: We need Hillary's smarts and perseverance in White House

People have questioned me about my support of Hillary Clinton. I agree with Clinton's legislative agenda. I believe in her experience. I believe she cares about this country. I believe she should be the next president.

People have questioned me about my support of Hillary Clinton. I agree with Clinton's legislative agenda. I believe in her experience. I believe she cares about this country. I believe she should be the next president.

But that's really not the heart of it.

She immersed herself in the intricacies of health care; of women's and children's rights; of passing legislation; of shepherding foreign policy; of realizing that a complex world requires more than simplistic proposals and grand promises.

But that's not really it, either.

I have watched for more than 30 years the relentless hounding this woman has endured. False innuendo. Sexism. Being called a liar. Thinly veiled criticisms about "a woman's place."

Having people ostensibly of her own party calling her unqualified, and some of those people telling her to drop out of the presidential race-even though she has a commanding delegate lead and bests the entire pack by millions of votes.

So why I support Hillary Clinton? Because another thing has happened over these 30 years: She hasn't gone anywhere. She stayed on. She fought. She sometimes lost. And she got right back again and kept on fighting.

She has reminded a lot of us not to shy away from a fight. To never. Give. Up.

That's why I believe in Hillary Clinton. And for the record, I'm not going anywhere either.
