Our country is divided not by accident but by design. We have been taught to hate those who look differently. We have been taught to blame those who come from different cultures. We accepted that the end justifies the means and to win by any means possible even if it means to lie. Blame the media for most everything.

I have heard that if a Democrat wins it would be an end to America. I heard if you vote for a Democrat it is a sin. This talk divides us. Where could we learn to act in this manner? We hold a corporation's CEO accountable for the culture of their business. They hold their department heads accountable for the climate within departments.

The president is responsible for the culture of our nation. The climate in our country comes directly from our Congress and Senate. Congress has been silent for at least eight years. And just in the last two the greatest change to our culture has taken place. We have replaced "we are in this together" by "it's their fault."

Our president has squandered the culture of "diversity" and "One nation under God" and turned it into "Hatred and Blame." In the last few weeks, instead of rallying in support of injustices, we place blame. Instead of welcoming those who come to our country in fear for their lives and seeking safety, we divide their families and turn them away. We are told by our president they are human smugglers, drug smugglers and the worst of mankind.

Government has become a zero-sum game. Instead of working together to find the best solution for all the people, they fight to win their way and sow hatred against the other ideas. We all lose.

Republicans do not have a lock on "Right to Life." Democrats do not have a lock on "Workers' Rights." To be so closed-minded to vote for one party because of one issue makes no sense.

We need to hold our government leaders accountable. This year people have not held their own parties accountable but have been complicit in allowing this divide to get worse.

My fear is that those who read this will point their fingers across the aisle.

Divided we fail.
