To the editor,

As president of Fort Berthold POWER, I see flaring of natural gas every day on the Fort Berthold Reservation where I live. I know that could mean there are also methane leaks as well. Our air is polluted from oil and gas extraction and I have experienced health effects from the emissions such as coughing and trouble breathing.

I know first hand that the Bureau of Land Management 2016 Methane Waste Prevention Rule is important and would go a long way in protecting our health, environment, and lessen the impacts to our climate.

We need leaders who know the value of our tribal owned natural resources, and are willing to put residents of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation and all Americans ahead of the wishes of special interests. Secretary of the Interior Zinke needs to listen to those who face the impacts of methane waste every day instead of giving a free pass to industry to continue wasting our

shared natural resources and polluting the air we breathe.
