LETTER: Some research contradicts upbeat gay-parenting claims

This is a response to Nicole Ingalls-Caley's letter, "Faulty science mars traditionalist view" (Page F2, July 12). Ingalls-Caley's letter, in turn, was a rebuttal of Ron Fischer's column, "Proud day for gays, sad day for children" (Page A4, July 2).

Ingalls-Caley's letter, in turn, was a rebuttal of Ron Fischer's column, " Proud day for gays, sad day for children " (Page A4, July 2).

Ingalls-Caley claims to tell us "the truth." Unfortunately, she forgot to mention the work of David Regnerus of the University of Texas at Austin, who came under severe condemnation from the gay community.

Regnerus looked at more than 3,000 children who were raised in same-sex households. His conclusions, which were published in two peer-reviewed journals and extensively investigated by the University of Texas, showed a statistical difference in the psychological problems of individuals raised in same-sex homes.

His work has withstood a massive onslaught by the gay community, and I just felt it was important that people realize there is well-conducted research that contradicts the claims of much of the media and gay community.
