To the editor,
There is a ready-made answer on hand for the bull-headed impasse related to the border wall.
In 2013 the gang of eight composed of four Democratic senators and four Republican senators hammered out a bipartisan agreement titled: The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013.
It easily passed the Senate with a bipartisan vote for 68/32.
It was sent to the house and reports indicated it would have passed there too. However, Speaker Boehner would not allow it to come to the floor for a vote.

As I read through it, it is evident it has a majority of the points and demands currently made by both parties. It was and is the compromise we need.
Why not resurrect this bill, retrofit it with a bit of modernizing, and pass it as a good compromise? It's time to put our 800,000 innocent government employees, who are being held hostage, back to work.
