I find the debate about Planned Parenthood's services rather uninformed regarding which services the low-income women of North Dakota actually use.

I have been that low-income woman without insurance, and I have never had to resort to using Planned Parenthood, nor have I known anyone to use the organization for anything but abortion.

Instead, when it comes to women's reproductive health, women for as long as I can remember have had the option to use the Valley Community Health Center. The center offers all of its services based on what a person can afford, even if that amount is nothing. More recently, I have learned that Valley Community Health Center has facilities for an even longer list of medical services, ranging from dental care to a medical clinic all for low-income uninsured people.

So, if Planned Parenthood one day were to vanish from the Red River Valley, the main service women would lose out on would be referrals for abortions.
