My brother was killed while riding his bicycle in 2008.
While I feel that law enforcement did their jobs, I do not feel like others in the legal system did.
I cannot do anything to bring my brother back, but if I can do something to help others for the future and ensure that people uphold their duties under the law, I will.
I support stronger crime victims’ rights for North Dakota, and I encourage you to vote yes on Measure 3 this November.
Measure 3 will guarantee crime victims or those acting on their behalf have the right to be notified of court proceedings, the right to be heard throughout the legal process, and to be free from intimidation and harassment.
These are rights that my family deserved, and that all crime victims deserve.
My brother’s death destroyed my family, and I’m not sure how many people realize how the actions that take one life can harm lives of so many others.
Equal rights for crime victims and their families are one way to help lessen additional damage in these awful situations.
Please vote yes on Measure 3.
Billy Beri Carrington, N.D.
