To the editor,

Kudos to the UND student government and student body for the professional handling on bringing a new Student Union to a successful vote.

Four years of study, options and listening culminated in a "yes" vote for an $80 million project. Contrast this with the City Council leadership on our library. Since 2008, one consultant selected by a fair and legal process. A great plan and location (Leever's) selected. The council (previous members) got involved, changed everything, and in 2011 the voters rejected the plan.

Another consultant selected without an RFP or competitive process, $300-$500,000 and 10 years later we are no closer than we were in 2008. But we will have another new logo.

The city and UND partner to provide UND students with intern opportunities. Perhaps the student government will help us out and provide some council members with intern opportunities on how to get major projects done. And they even have experience with logos.
