Tell me I'm wrong.
Nowadays, many exhibitions of empathy are simply demonstrations of narcissism. Rather than compassion, we have a "look at me" self-righteous indignation. It has become an art form.
Recently Trump made remarks many consider offensive, "racist." What is Haiti? It is a perpetual disaster waiting for a catastrophe. Many times, Haiti and similar countries have been given aid in time of need, which is virtually constant. What does it do? Primarily it makes the donor feel good, but the overall impact is minimal. A few heartwarming stories while the masses continue in misery.
Jesus taught that helplessness was a virtue. Marx taught that hopelessness was a right. Mark Twain said that as to the human race, it should be hung and we would be done with the farce.

The primary cause of misery in the world is not hunger and disease. It is overpopulation. We breed like rats. Why? It's aided by religion. "Be fruitful and multiply." It's absurd.
If children can't be supported, they shouldn't be had. Why should others support the consequences of thoughtless indulgence? Remember and think about it: Every time a life is brought into the world, so is a death. Animals don't know any better. Apparently, neither do we.
