Under "Book Notes" in the Grand Forks Herald for Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, the Grand Forks Public Library lists the book, Becoming Brilliant: What Science Tells Us About Raising Successful Children, by Golinkoff and Hirsh-Pasek. The article mentions the "6Cs" for success: Collaboration, Communication, Content, Critical thinking, Creative innovation, and Confidence. These all seem to be worthwhile traits, but in my mind, a "7th C", compassion, is needed in order for a person to be truly successful, and I wonder if the development of compassion is woven into the book.

People interested in helping children to develop this "7th C" more fully might like to read the book, The Self-Esteem Trap: Raising Confident and Compassionate Kids in an Age of Self-Importance, by Polly Young-Eisendrath.
