Shall we eat out, or should we stay home?

That is the question in these days. Even with a feeling that coronavirus is coming under control, there are concerns about eating inside restaurants. While some people stay away, others keep eating out.

Ground Round at 2800 32nd Ave. S., has developed a takeout menu with full delivery seven days a week. The Blue Moose restaurant in East Grand Forks has hockey fans coming in before games and ordering takeout during games. They are among dozens of restaurants offering delivery meals. Much of the ordering is done by computers online.

There is delivery service by Door Dash and Bite Squad. And Jordan Speare, a manager at the Moose, says among the takeout favorites are spinach con queso at $10.50 along with spicy Bourbon Street pasta at $14 and a Guinness burger for $12.50.

There are, of course, tips and delivery charges.

For me the tip for the driver was well worth it on an evening during tournament time. Staying home with a meal at hand was the next best thing to being there.

My order was delivered within the hour when I called in and asked for a center-cut sirloin that came with two sides for $17.99. The sirloin was done medium well to my liking. And yes, it was tender and tasty. With it, there were potatoes.

With the delivery cost and tip, I was up around $25 for my meal at home. I thought it was well worth it later on. That’s when I ate the box of popcorn, the driver brought along.

The bonus was the quick visit with Andy Cunningham who made the delivery. He is a man well acquainted with the Grand Forks restaurant scene. He says he loves to drive and see people happy. He came to the house wearing a mask. He remembers long ago serving as a volunteer when the Dakota Queen was serving meals with its rides down the Red River from Grand Forks.
