Raymond Capp

Raymond Francis Capp, age 86, resident of Larimore, ND, and formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Raymond was born June 4, 1934 in Lankin, ND, the son of Stanley and Anna (Beneda) Capp. He served the United States Army and was stationed in Louisiana and Texas from 1955 to 1957. He was honorably discharged as a parts Specialist in Maintenance. Raymond met the love of his life at a dance in Bachelor’s Grove and was married to Ann Marie Dougherty, daughter of Robert W. and Marie (Allard) Dougherty on June 8, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lakota. Raymond spent his life in farming in Minnesota and North Dakota with Ann Marie. He was also a licensed insurance agent and real estate broker in Minnesota and North Dakota. Raymond was a 65 year member of the American Legion post #157 in East Grand Forks. Raymond enjoyed visiting, having coffee and sweets, fishing, listening to old time music, and gardening. Raymond collected belt buckles, pens, caps, and enjoyed taking photos of his family at special events. They enjoyed going to dances together and spent many years wintering in Texas. Raymond and Ann Marie were married for 56 years prior to her passing in 2015.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his four children, Jeff (Anita) Capp of Grand Forks, ND, Kathy Woehl of Abilene, TX, Matthew (Cynthia) Capp of Pensacola, FL, and Dr. Patrick (Carla) Capp of Horace, ND; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers Eugene Capp, Northwood, ND John Capp, Lankin, ND, sister Joanie Sather, Larimore, ND; brother-in-law John (Cheryl) Dougherty, Lakota, ND; sister-in-law Evie Capp, Grafton, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie; daughter-in-law, Laura Capp, his parents; sisters, Elsie Ann and Mary Jane; brother, Ronald, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert W. and Marie Dougherty.

A Private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church of Larimore, ND, on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.

Public visitation will be at the Church on Monday for 1 hour prior to the private Funeral Mass.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lankin, ND.

Military Honors will be accorded by the East Grand Forks American Legion Post 157, VFW Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
