Patrick "Pat" Leroy Como

Patrick Leroy Como, 81, of Bemidji, formerly of Shevlin, MN died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Colleen’s Caring Hands in Bemidji.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Sell Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Shevlin, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Patrick was born in Little Falls, MN, on September 15, 1937, the son of Edward C. Como and Viola (Woodley) Como. The family moved to Grand Forks, ND where he attended Central High School. Patrick met his wife Genevieve (Hagness) Como in East Grand Forks, MN, they married on April 27, 1957 in Escondido, CA. He was drafted into the US Army in 1961, and after being discharged from the Army in 1963, he moved to Grand Forks, ND to work as a carpenter. In 1964 he and his family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1968, he moved his family to Grand Rapids, MN, and started working for the Minnesota Forestry Division. In January 1975, Patrick worked as a carpenter at the St. Croix State Park while living in Hinckley, MN. In 1982 they moved to the Lake Itasca area where he worked as a carpenter at Itasca State Park before retiring in 2001. Patrick enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with wood and creating items such as clocks, outdoor benches, sconces, hope chests, end tables, and plaques. He also built and refinished many furniture items, helped with installing doors, windows, building decks, and many deer stands. Patrick enjoyed visits from family, spending time with the kids, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his: Children, Brenda Jonasch, Barbara (Robert) Anderson, Bonnie Como, Patrick (Starla) Como Jr., Brother, Michael (Shirley) Como, Grandchildren: Megan Fox, Samantha (Chris) Perkins, Amanda (Garrett) Reeves, Hope Coyle-Hadrava, Stephanie Como, Richard Gorden, Jonathon Erickson, and Zachary Como. Great-Grandchildren: Colton, Oliver, Jayda, Kylie, Hunter, Katie,Trinity, Jake, Willow, Zane, Jacob, and Lucas. Many Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Genevieve, siblings Edward Como, William Como, Donald Como, Robert Como, Beverly Sherer, Donna Reopelle, and Elizabeth Como.
