Marilyn M. Palmer


Marilyn Mead Palmer, 90, of East Grand Forks, passed away unexpectedly in the arms of her daughter at her home, on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Marilyn Mead was born in Crookston, MN, December 4, 1931, to Carsten “Spike” and Frances (Keifenheim) Mead. She grew up in Red Lake Falls, MN where she graduated from Lafayette High School in 1949. She attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN and graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul with a degree in Elementary Education. She started her teaching career in Austin, MN and taught for three years before moving to East Grand Forks. She taught in the East Grand Forks School district for 38 years.

Marilyn was an active member of the L’Etudier Club of the GF Women’s Club and the Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Education Society. She enjoyed attending East Grand Forks music and sporting events and was a dedicated Fighting Sioux and MN Twins fan. She had a love for working in her flower gardens.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Palmer also of East Grand Forks and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and brother John (Maxine) Mead.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd Street NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Funeral will be live-streamed on Marilyn’s page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com

VISITATION: One hour prior to service on Tuesday also at Sacred Heart

INURNMENT: Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN, following lunch
