Judith “Judy” Holweger

Judith “Judy” Holweger, age 81, of Northwood, ND, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Judith Eve Stimpert was born Friday, June 13, 1941 in Loretto Hospital, New Ulm, MN to Charles “Red” Stimpert and Bertha “Byrdee” Eda Kyar Stimpert.

Judy graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1959 and then moved and worked at Oster in New Ulm. In 1960 she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she was employed by Newberry’s Department Store. In March of 1962, Judy moved to Arvilla, North Dakota where she met Dennis Holweger. They began dating in March of that year, were engaged in June and were married on September 21st, 1962 at Pleasant View Church rural Emerado, ND.

She was a charter member of the Arvilla Community Club and a charter member and past treasurer of the Emerado Arvilla Lioness receiving the Lioness of the Year award. She also taught Sunday school and Bible school at the Pleasant View Church and taught Sunday school and was superintendent of Sunday school for 2 years for the Arvilla Presbyterian Church, Arvilla, ND.

Judy and Dennis moved into their home shortly after marriage. They were farmers for quite a few years and raised Holstein milk cows. In later years they raised potatoes and had a wash plant on their home site. At one time they owned and operated the Emerado Standard Gas Station, Emerado, ND.

In 1993, at age 51, Judy went back to school and attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks where she took classes in medical terminology, legal and taxes. She began working for Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson, Ltd. law firm in April of 1994 and continued working there until her retirement in June of 2013.

After retirement Judy was an avid quiltmaker and made quilts for each of her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and for RRV Hospice and area nursing homes. She and Dennis also took over the care for the Pleasant View Cemetery. She spent a lot of years doing genealogy for all sides of her family and for all sides of Dennis’ family. Judy loved watching UND hockey.

Judy is survived by her three daughters, Barb (Curtis) Huus, Hatton, ND; Beth Murphy (Dan), Utica, KY; and Laura (Shane) Klindt, Belle Plaine, KS. Also surviving are grandchildren: Sara (Kody) Grandalen, Tiffany (Max) Tangen, Spencer (Karissa Jerome) Huus, Zachary Holweger; Morgan Holweger; Alexandria Klindt and Brandon Klindt; great-grandchildren: Layken, Harper, Reese, Maddie, Brooks, Ellie and Kru; brothers, Jim Stimpert and John (Ruth) Stimpert and sister, Phyllis Stimpert (Deborah Wall); sister-in-law: Jean Stimpert.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband; their beloved son, Bradley James Holweger on November 7, 2012; her parents, her brothers: Terry Stimpert in September of 2014; Gregory Stimpert in December of 2014 and her sister, Betty Garland in November 2014; sisters-in-law: Rose Stimpert, Carol Stimpert; brother-in-law: John Garland.

Services will be held on Tuesday September 27th at Arvilla Presbyterian Church in Arvilla, ND with visitation at 2:00 and funeral at 3:00. Burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Emerado, ND. She will be laid to rest with her husband and their beloved son, Bradley James Holweger.

Memorials are preferred to Pleasant View Cemetery.
