Herbert Seaver

Herbert Arthur Seaver, 84, of Larimore, ND, passed away peacefully in the early morning on Friday, April 1, 2022. Herb was born to the late Herbert and Marie (Fick) Seaver in Litchville, ND on August 7, 1937. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Herb grew up in Portland, ND where he graduated from high school. He then went on to attend and graduated from Mayville State College with degrees in Composite Science and Mathematics. Herb also received a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Southwestern University. He had a successful teaching career of forty years. Herb started out his teaching career in Clyde, ND. He eventually accepted a position as a high school math teacher in Larimore, ND, where he would teach, coach, and drive a school bus for thirty-five years. While teaching at Larimore High School, Herb also taught classes at Lake Region State College’s GFAFB campus.

During Herb’s five years of teaching in Clyde, ND, he met his lifelong partner. He was united in marriage with his best friend, Clara Lou MacArthur, on June 25, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Clyde, ND. Herb was blessed with a large and loving family. He helped raise his four children with patience, discipline, and respect. Herb was an educator at heart. He was kind, well-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem. Herb also had a wonderful knack for carpentry. He customized many beautiful woodwork pieces that will be heirlooms for years to come. Herb truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with family, bird watching, gardening, and participating strongly in Boys Scouts where he proudly received his Eagle Scout & Silver Beaver awards.

Herb was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Herb is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Marie Seaver; his brothers Keith, Richard, and Robert Seaver; and Herb & Clara Lou’s infant son. Herb is survived by his wife, Clara Lou; his sons Marlo (Mary), Kirk (Jacquelyn), & Bruce (Carmen) Seaver; his daughter, Kirsten Fischer; his 8 grandchildren; his brother, David Seaver; his sister, Carol Vandamme; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those whose hearts Herb touched are invited to celebrate his life.

The funeral service for Herbert Seaver will be held at the United Methodist Church in Larimore, ND on Saturday April 9th at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday April 8th at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore, ND with a 7:00 pm prayer service. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore
