Elizabeth “Betty” Joan Daily, 89, of Grand Forks, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by members of her family.

Betty Daily was born on August 7, 1932, in Thompson, North Dakota. Daughter of Walter Bohlman and Mayme (Stanley) Bohlman. Betty grew up on a farm with eight siblings. Betty’s father, Walter, passed away at a young age. Her mother, Mayme, became the sole provider and caretaker for her family and worked very hard to give her family everything they needed.

Ultimately, Mayme and Betty moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota. Betty was enrolled in Catholic school and graduated from St. James High School in the Class of 1950. She was a devoted Catholic. Betty married Kenneth Daily on July 1, 1976. They shared a long and happy life together.

More than just a mother, wife, friend, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, Betty wore many hats in her life. She was an encouraging, dependable, loyal, and selfless caretaker to her husband, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, children, cousins, and friends. Betty was a kind and gentle soul with sharp wit and sense of humor. No one who ever met Betty walked away without a sense of kindness radiating from her.

Betty liked to always keep herself busy. She prided herself on maintaining a tidy house. Even after working as a baker at Hugo’s grocery store for thirty-two years, she ‘retired’ for all of two weeks before finding a new position with Dayton’s and then Macy’s for another twelve years.

Betty had a special gift for making you feel special and loved. That was just who she was. She loved and steadfastly cared for her late husband Ken. Near the end of his life, she took him to an endless number of appointments and was near his side through every treatment while on dialysis for the last ten years of his life.

Betty eventually moved to Fargo, North Dakota, in 2012 to live with her youngest daughter Reanee. Betty began another job at Herberger’s and eventually ‘retired’ for a second time in 2019. Betty enjoyed taking walks and being outdoors taking in the fresh air and watching all the busy neighborhood animals going about their little adventures. Betty was an avid gardener and caretaker to her plants and flowers that adorned her back patio. Betty loved animals. Betty and her yorkie Olivia became two peas in a pod. Olivia passed away last fall. One would like to imagine Betty and Olivia have been reunited and are enjoying each other’s companionship once again.

Betty is survived by her children she adored and cherished, Tim (Tammy), Mark and Brad (Julie) Olson of Grand Forks, ND; Steven (Anne) Olson of Cottage Grove, MN; Pam (Robbie) Sorenson of Fargo, ND; Diane (Bryan Kozel) Olson of East Grand Forks, MN; and Reanee Flaten of Fargo, ND. As well as eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken Daily; brothers Walter, Robert, Thomas Bohlman; sisters Ruth Schaefer, Verda Driscoll, Kathleen Fladeland, Dorothy Lindsey, Evelyn Zimmer; and grandson, Jeremy Olson as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Betty will be missed dearly every day. She will always be carried in each of the lucky people who had the chance to know her.

Until we meet again, we will always love and miss you, Mom.
