Donna Jean Curry, 82, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, August 8, 2022 at Gold Pine Home in Bemidji.

Donna was born July 2, 1940 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ella Kate (Spaid) Pinney. She married Samuel Curry, Sr. in Marshalltown, Iowa. They were married for 34 years. She lived in various states as a military wife. Bemidji has been her home for over 50 years, except for a brief time in Grand Forks, ND. She worked for Beltrami County as a home health aide. She also had worked at Dunkin Doughnuts, Gold Pine Home and the Royal Motel all in Bemidji. She retired from Beltrami County as a home health aide. She had a love of life. That included everything from people, plants, animals, everything. She would rescue any plant that she would see struggling and always brought it back to life; which meant she always ended up with hundreds of plants at a time. But they were all extremely special to her and were like family. She used to love collecting anything Coca Cola. Books were a huge part of her life. She could read an entire book in one day. She loved country music and baking. She would bake all of the time just to be able to share goodies with anyone near her. She was the most selfless person and would always be a caregiver to anyone. Quilting and sewing were both big passions of hers. Along with gardening, and word searches; she always had a word search book in her purse at all times. Lilacs were her favorite flower, and she completely adored their scent. She would stand and take in their beauty whenever she saw them. She loved to make others laugh. The cream horns from Raphaels Bakery were her kryptonite. She adored them and they were her favorite treat, along with the cheese chips from Keith’s Pizza. Her great grandchildren were so important to her and she shared such a beautiful relationship with them. She was an angel on earth. She taught how to love, and how to find the beauty in everything and to not take life too seriously and to just slow down as to not miss the important things in life.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Christine Mechtel of Bemidji, son, Samuel Curry, Jr. of Bemidji, son, Scott Curry of Bemidji, and daughter, Cathy (Richard) Springer of Grand Forks, ND, grandchildren, Daniel Mechtel, Jr., Heather (Blair) Hawk, Matthew Springer, and Mitchell Kaasa, great-grandchildren, Layla Perales, Ruben Perales, and Sterling Hawk.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Steven Curry, Stanley Curry, and Stewart Curry, grandson, Chad Mechtel, parents, brother, Ronald Pinney, and sister Patricia “Patti” Cornwell.
