Mark Vingelen

Mark Curtis Vingelen, 62, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully in his home, with his family by his side, after a courageous 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mark was born August 5, 1958 in Grand Forks, ND to Julian and Phyllis (Olson) Vingelen. He graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks in 1977. He worked at Labelle’s/Best Products until 1994 when he began his 27 year career at Northern Plumbing Supply in Grand Forks, ND.

He was married to Peggy Wonser, of McVille, ND on August 29, 1981 and later divorced. Together, they raised 2 sons, Josh and Chris.

Mark met the love of his life, Shellie Larson, in October of 1989 and they were married September 26, 1992. Mark and Shellie made a life they loved. Mark was an avid golfer and instilled his love of the game in his boys. His best days were spent on the golf course with his sons and grandson. Music was another passion of Mark’s. He had eclectic tastes and you could hear anything from classic rock to acapella to country on his playlists. Mark’s love for his grandchildren was unrivaled. He was fortunate to take several vacations with his wife, children and grandchildren over the last several years. Those memories will live on forever in his family’s hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Shellie, sons Josh (Cindy) of Moorhead, MN, Chris (Amanda) of Grand Forks, ND, grandchildren Rylan, Olivia, Sophia, Evelyn, brothers Danny (Pat) Brickson of Afton, TN, Jason (Sue) Vingelen of Spokane, WA, sister Debbie (Dennis) Regan of Crookston, MN, sister-in-law Carol Mohn of Louisville, KY, and several sisters and brothers-in-law and their families.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Phyllis Vingelen, brother, Terry Mohn, and niece, Andrea (Annie) Fagley.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 1st, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, MN. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 2nd at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, MN with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Altru Cancer Center or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
