Lucile Anita Broyles
Lucile Anita Broyles (“Babe”) passed away on May 2, 2020 at Edgewood Memory Care in East Grand Forks MN. She was 92. Lucile was born March 4, 1928 to Oman (O.B.) and Fern Herigstad in Minot, ND. She graduated from Minot High School in 1946 and married Leo Broyles, just prior to his leaving for active duty in the Army.
Lucile and Leo enjoyed their many friends, including many from their high school days. They were active in the Elks Club. Lucile enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. She also was active in the YMCA, swimming laps and participating in synchronized swimming well into her senior years. She was also active in PEO.
Lucile was a stay at home mom who cared for the loved ones in her life including their three children, her mother, her sister and others. Fall would see Lucile at the sewing machine, making many Christmas presents for relatives. Through the years she crocheted afghans as well intricate doilies and decorations for family and friends. She also served as a Girl Scout leader.
Lucile is survived by her three children: Becky Weiss (Robert), Mankato, Minnesota; Dan Broyles (Rita), Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Nancy Devine (Chuck) Grand Forks, North Dakota; five grandchildren (Christy Tryhus, Amy Zachary, Eric Weiss, Jeremy Broyles, Jill Bickler) and eight great grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Broyles; parents (Oman and Fern Herigstad), siblings: Jean Pringle, Roger Herigstad, Elaine Purdy and their spouses.
A celebration of life will be at a future time to be announced.
