Lester Svendsen

Lester Svendsen, 82, of Argyle, MN, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Lester Sigvart Svendsen was born on August 20, 1937 in Argyle, the son of Sigvart and Louise (Schroeder) Svendsen. He was a life long resident of Argyle where he graduated from high school. He served in the US Army from 1960 - 1962, returning to help on the farm after his father got sick. Lester farmed with his brother until 1995. In addition to farming, he worked as a mechanic at Hanson Kopperud for over 20 years, at Valley Spuds from 1988 โ€“ 1997 and Terog from 1997 until he retired in 2017. He was a member of the Argyle American Legion Post #353. Lester loved keeping busy. He spent many hours gardening and he loved sharing the fruits and vegetables with family and friends. Lester enjoyed helping others with fixing things and doing odd jobs. Left to mourn his passing are his sisters, Muriel McDonald of Golden, CO and Grace Stole of Fergus Falls, MN and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sigvart and Louise; brother, Derald; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Svendsen; brothers-in-law, John โ€œJackโ€ McDonald and Roger Stole and niece, Michelle McDonald. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Alma Free Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, MN. VISITATION: 5:30 โ€“ 7:00 PM on Thursday at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren, MN and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
