Lester J. Olson
Lester Olson, age 92, of East Grand Forks, MN, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND.
Lester Joseph Olson was born on December 16, 1927, in Greenbush MN the son of Clara Kolberg. He grew up in Halma and moved to Oslo and Bigwoods MN area. He served his country in the US Army from 1946-47. He was part of the occupation troops in Japan and served as an MP at the war crimes trials. He married Gladyce Olson on December 17, 1949 in East Grand Forks, MN where they made their home and started a family. He worked for various construction companies in the area and was a proud and active member of the Operator’s Union, Local 49. He worked at Valley Contracting for the last decades of his work life.
He is survived by children, Sandy (Ron) Lambert of Roseville, MN, and Lonnie (Diane White) Olson of Clancy, MT; grandchildren, Nicki (Frank) Kadwell and Kim Lambert; great-grandchild, Micah Kadwell. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladyce.
The family would like to thank Dr. Potti and the staff of the Cancer Center of North Dakota, his great neighbors and friends, Reverend Gwenn Bazajou and the staff of Valley Memorial Nursing Home for their care of Lester, especially under the very difficult circumstances caused by the recent pandemic.
