GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Eugene “Gene” Kauppila, 72, Thief River Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Altru Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The Rev. John Golv and the Rev. Ale Tulu will officiate. Burial will be in Finnish Cemetery in Plummer, Minn.
